LJHigh has been a part of the drum and bass scene in the midlands since 1995, playing jungle at clubs across the midlands and on pirate radio stations. He has hosted radio shows on numerous internet radio stations and now has a monthly show on the worlds leading dnb station, www.bassdrive.com. As well as DJing, LJHigh is an established producer and is signed to various record labels including Soundtrax, Mac2 Recordings, Directors Cut, Santorin, and Good Looking Records.
Having just been interviewed by Drum and Bass arena for his 2nd release on Randall’s Mac2, he has an EP ready to drop this month on Directors Cut Records, which is receiving support from DJ’s Bailey, Ray Keith, Randall and many more
LJHigh began his love affair with music back in 1992 attending nights at the legendary Edge nightclub (Formerly the Eclipse) in Coventry. From then on he was hooked and took up DJ’ing. Soon LJ was picking up bookings at local events and started to make a name for himself.
In 1995 he was introduced to production and worked on his first track with Darkman aka Subliminal who was signed to L Double’s Flex Records. His tracks “Self Belief /
Sweet Dreams” were signed to Second Movement Records (Sister label of Back2Basics) and released that year.LJHigh continued to DJ more and more, picking up residencies for nights such as Bass Odyssey, Darkest Jungle and Bare Necessities and played regular guest shows on pirate radio stations such as Wolverhamptons Underground FM and Flex FM in
London.LJ’s second release came on London label Instinctive records in 1998 with tracks called Killer/Bassquake and received support from Kenny Ken and the late G.E.Real RIP.In 2004 LJHigh began his internet radio career when he was asked to host his own weekly radio show on www.kunninmindz.com – a new website dedicated to drum and bass. LJ helped the station grow and along with other dj’s at the time, made a
name for himself as a radio presenter.
He then moved onto midlandsdnb.com (now globaldnb.com) to help promote internet radio in the midlands. Eventually, he was asked to joinwww.bassdrive.com, the
world’s premier internet drum and bass station in 2010, and still hosts his bi weekly show today.LJ gained more notoriety as a producer in 2012 with a release on Big Bud’s Soundtrax imprint and from there has had releases on Randall’s Mac2, and a list of other labels.For 2014 LJ has forthcoming releases on Mac2, Directors Cut, Santorin and Blendits
