Mc Marley the king of the South Coast Mc’s was born and grew up in Southampton, developing an early love for Hip Hop artists such as Public Enemy and LL Cool J until his early 20′s around 1992 when he started to hear the early Hardcore sounds at a venue called “Shades”, a regular haunt of Hardcore Legend and friend Ramos and school friend Supreme, founders of the massive iconic Hardcore label RSR. Given an opportunity to take the Mic Marley quickly found his natural ability to drop lyrics and control the crowd shine through and bring that undeniably unique vocal sound to the ravers of the U.K at venues and events nationwide. Marley and his now long time partner Dj Ramos would create a studio mix every month and send them to all the major promoters across the country. It wasn’t long before the creator and promoter of the legendary Dreamscape, Murray Beetson made them residents at his legendary events at The Sanctuary in Milton Keynes, followed soon by David Pratley of Helter Skelter, playing nearly every one of these events until the sad closure of the Sanctuary to make way for an Ikea superstore. Marley’s talents have taken him on a journey across the U.K playing events and club nights that include Dreamscape, Helter Skelter, Pandemonium, Fusion, Fantazia, illusion and overseas with bookings as far afield as Germany, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand (Marley was the first Mc to actually perform in N.Z in 93/94 alongside Dj Vinylgroover).
Marley has also been involved with the production side of things with his first production being a track called “Crazy Knowledge” in 1996 with Ramos on RSR and then had a further 3 releases on the label followed by 2 releases on Dj Hixxys Raverbaby, the first was called “Connections” and was one of the first real mainstream Mc based tracks and remains one of the biggest selling releases on the label. The second being “Music Is My Life” again produced alongside Hixxy which is fast approaching a million hits on You Tube. In 2006 Marley alongside Dj Scandal created their own label under the guise of Geos crew and went on to produce 6 tracks with several featuring regularly on Clubland Extreme, remixes followed from Sy & Unknown, Breeze and Gammer, most of the tracks being heavily Mc influenced such as “Gonna Take You High”, “Power And The Glory”, “Look At All The Ravers” and “Live For The Music”, all becoming main arena anthems loved by both artists and ravers alike. Marley and Scandal also created and ran their own successful club night brand called “Electrik” in Southampton and Salisbury becoming very popular with the south coast ravers. During 2010 Marley decided to step back from the Hardcore scene, close the label and concentrate more on his original love, Old Skool.
Now living with his partner and working full time, father of 2 Marley coaches and manages kids football and is starting to cut back on bookings and likes to be selective where he performs, a matter of quality over quantity. Looking to retire fully as an Mc in the next few years he continues to push boundaries and deliver the goods everywhere he goes…. “For those of you who don’t know where you are, get to know”…..
